Super Easy Iphone 5 Pouch Tutorial

Hi, my lovelies, so happy i can share my tutorial this week. It's super easy, only take very little of fabrics and only takes max 1 hour of your time.

For this week's tutorial, i am making super easy fabric pouch for Iphone 5s. No scary zipper to sew, only elastic and button. I even using my scrap fabrics (I have 1 box full of small scraps of fabrics that i don't dare to throw them yet).

Okay, let's get started.

Materials needed:
============
Oh first thing first, you must measure your phone. I am using Iphone 5s, it measures: 6cm wide x 12.5cm tall x 1cm deep.
So, cut your fabrics:

  • 2pcs outer fabrics + 2pcs inner fabrics + 2pcs padding each measures: 12cm x 17cm (i like to make it wider and taller).
  • 15cm elastic band.
  • 1pc of button (i am using fabric button, again it's a leftover from previous project).
  • Scissor (i have new tailoring scissor, big, heavy and sharp ^_^).
  • Matching/contrasting colour of thread.
  • Needle and thread from sewing the button.
  • And lastly your 1 hour spare time (max) ^_^

Step One:
Front pouch: Place wadding to the wrong side of outer fabric (mine is the purple flower). If you are using fusible type, you may want to iron the wadding into the wrong side of outer fabric first. Then place the outer fabric and inner fabric right side together. And pin to keep them in place.

Back pouch: Take the elastic and fold into half. You want to position the elastic right at the center of the pouch. This is how i do: fold the outer fabric into half, then you can see the crease at the center or just measure it with ruler. Then i use paper tape to hold the elastic in place. I usually leave about 2cm tail, you can trim it later.

Don't forget place the inner fabric right side with the outer fabric and pin them.

Step Two: Sew the top using 1cm allowance. Don't forget to backstitches few times and the beginning and at the end to reinforce the stitches. Also take out the pins.

I like to sew backstitches few times along the elastic to reinforce the stitches.

This is how they looks.

I like to cut the wadding smaller to reduce the bulk. This is totally optional.

Step Three: Press both seem to open.

 Nice and flat after ironed.

Step Four: Place fabrics right sides together matching both side seems (this is important) and pins them.

Leave an opening on the side or bottom of the inner fabric for turning later. Usually i leave 10cm of opening.

Step Five: Sew all around starting at the opening on 1 point then stop at the other point. Using 1cm seam allowance. After that trim the wadding to reduce bulks. Trim the 4 corners to create crisps corners. Do not cut the seams. And turn the fabric inside out at the opening we made earlier. Do it slowly. Use a chopstick to help to push the fabrics around the corners.

Step Six: Press the pouch then hand sew or machine stitch to close the opening. I am using machine. If your using matching thread you won't be able to see the stitches.

Step Seven: Time to fitting and sew the button.

Position the button at the center. Try to secure it with your elastic. Mark it then hand sew the button.

Step Eight: Enjoy your new pouch!!

Tips: You can do top stitching at the top using matching or contrasting thread. Just sew it slowly.

It super easy, you can use any scrap fabrics or even make a combination with the scraps. I make this pouch even less in an hour, so i hope you enjoy making the pouch.

See you in my next projects.

Latest Items Available For Toyoutpost Locker

Oups, been busy lately between day job, Etsy, and Toyoutpost. Plus i had flu twice: on June and last week.

Now, feeling much much better and ready to blog.

I want to share my first ever participation on Indonesian President election 2014, which was held at KBRI Singapore on last Sunday, 06 July 2014.

So so excited. Been waiting for that day to come. I have been writing some posts on my facebook account expressing my thoughts for this year President election. I am not a fan of politics, especially politics in my birth country, Indonesia, due to many corruption cases and injustice, i gave up my hope for Indonesia long time ago. However, this time i think i need to participated and expressed my feelings. Plus i was also one of the undecided voters or swing voters. The two candidates were very strong. Both have their strengths and weaknesses.

I spent 1 week before the election day to watched as many debates as possible between the two candidates. Read positives and negatives from each candidates. I even read the black campaigns from both candidates. All very fun and entertaining. And hell yeah, this year i am going to vote!!!!!

Felt so excited after doing my part as a good Indonesian citizen. 5 minutes to vote for better Indonesia!!

Now, back to work ^_^

Been working on new addition to my Toyoutpost locker.

This is my newest design for mini pouch. Actually kinda funny story, my hubby asked me to sewed mini boxy pouch. But, i was lazy that day and only managed to boxed the 2 corners instead of 4. He said it was a unique design, maybe people will like it.

I put my eye shadow and lip gloss for photo.

I sewed 3 of this mini pouches. Hope people will like them.

I also sewed few flat mini pouches. It's a classic design. The size can hold standard tissue pack.

Not forgetting my best selling triangle pouches ^_^

Ta-da!!! I tried to squeezed a bit more so all my new items can fit nicely inside without looking over crowd.

Thank you for reading my blog. See you on my next post.
